Here's the thing nobody tells you when you become a father with ADHD: There's no manual for how your brain is going to interact with every single aspect of parenting. You're just supposed to figure it out. And if you're anything like us, you probably spent years thinking you were doing it wrong before you realized your brain just works differently.
The DadDHD Podcast exists because there's a massive gap in the conversation about neurodivergent parenting. You can find plenty of information about medications, symptoms, and school accommodations. But nobody's talking about the stuff that actually matters day-to-day. How do you handle bedtime routines when your brain can't track time? What do you do when your kid has a meltdown and you're also dysregulated? How do you maintain a relationship with your spouse when you're both exhausted and your executive function is shot?
This isn't a podcast about being a perfect dad. We're not here to tell you how to optimize every second of your child's development or turn parenting into another productivity system. This is about understanding how ADHD and autism affect the way we show up as fathers, and building systems that work with our brains instead of against them.
We're going to talk about the hard stuff. Premature babies and NICU stays. Kids on different parts of the ADHD and autism spectrum. What it looks like to be a stay-at-home dad when society tells you that's not how men provide. How to maintain intimacy with your partner when executive function is shot. Managing your own dysregulation while trying to co-regulate your kids. Breaking cycles that got passed down to you.
We're bringing on guests from all over. Experts in ADHD, autism, parenting, relationships, sex of all walks of life - the full experience of fatherhood and neurodivergence. Because this isn't just about us. It's about building a community where dads can actually learn from people who get it.
The show's primarily directed at men, but we're not gatekeeping. If you're a parent navigating neurodivergence and this resonates, you're welcome here.
The DadDHD Podcast is a partnership between the Men's ADHD Support Group, ADHD Parent Support Group, Empower ADHD Solutions, and Creating Order From Chaos. We're building this as we go, figuring out what actually helps people rather than following some predetermined format.
This is about showing up for our kids and ourselves. Not as perfect fathers, but as real ones who are willing to do the work.
